Mary Crowell is an incredibly skilled keyboard player, has a magnificent voice, and writes wonderful songs and instrumental music. For proof of the above, just listen to her song "Legolas" on MySpace.
Mary performs as one of the four "Three Weird Sisters", with the GAFilk house band, "Play It With Moxie!", and as a solo performer. Here is her gig schedule. Out of her love of filk music and the filk community, Mary edits the GAFilk songbook, and contributes her divinely accurate sheet music transcriptions to other filk songbooks as well.
What does the world think about Mary's new CD, "Courting My Muse"? Peter Alway says, "The production values are top notch, Mary's voice is great, her piano skills are famous." Rob Wynne says, "Wow, she's good." The Decatur (Alabama) Daily calls her "marvelous". Brenda Sutton says, "There isn't anyone else who sings like she does or performs like she does." As of this writing, Mary has just won the 2007 Pegasus Award as Best Performer (in a tie with our own Seanan McGuire).
Mary, who has a DMA (Doctor of Music Arts) in musical composition, teaches music at Calhoun Community College. She lives in Athens, Alabama with her husband, Wesley, and their son, Simon. She is user quadrivium on LiveJournal.
