Graham is a man of many talents. He has worked as an actor, bald eagle researcher, balloon sculptor, comedian, juggler, mime, movie extra, radio voice, and, of course, as a musician. He sings and plays guitar, bodhran, and 5-string banjo. Becca is a chiropractor by day and a musician by night. She sings and plays guitar, Irish whistle, recorder, mandolin, and kazoo. An anonymous connoisseur of fine music reports that she has "a clear, pure voice, a clean and distinctive guitar style, and an amazing repertoire of songs." Graham and Becca's international romance began when Graham was living in Winnipeg and Becca was in Minneapolis. They got to know each other at DuckCon in Chicago and at the Winnipeg Folk Festival. Graham proposed to Becca on board a pirate ship at the Minneapolis Renaissance Festival. They were married by a troll in Minneapolis in June, 2006. Becca, Graham, and two other musicians perform at renaissance festivals as Bramblebush. Bramblebush sings of dragons, pirates, and elves on their CD "Songs From the Glade", which includes Graham's songs "Eyes of the Dragon" and "Lost Treasures". Becca also performs with Chas Somdahl as the folk group Riverfolk. Riverfolk's CD, "Meander", includes songs by Kate Wolf, Rand Bellavia and Adam English ("Home"), Tom Paxton, John Prine, and Becca ("Dreamcatcher", "Lonely Tonight", "My Kid Brother"), among others. Debbie Ohi reported that when she and Jeff moved, "Meander" was the first CD they brought to their new home. "It takes a lot of effort to feel stressed or unhappy while listening to this album." Graham's solo CD "Reality Check" earns five stars and an exclamation point at CD Baby. He has another CD in the works that he hopes will be ready in time for Consonance. Graham has also recorded with the Dust Rhinos and the Porch Climbers (two Celtic-rock bands from Winnipeg), and with Urban Tapestry, Andrea Dale, and Scott Snyder. Graham was nominated for two Pegasus awards in 1995 (Best Filk Song and Best Writer/Composer). Here are a few more of Graham and Becca's many musical and theatrical performances. Graham and Becca appeared with the Pyrates of Portabello as the singing pirates Graybeard and Rose d'Argent. (Click on the links to find out what turns them on.) Graham and Becca appeared as the Butler and Baker in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", and Graham made an ass of himself in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" as Bottom, a role he had longed to play ever since high school. Graham performed for many years on the Western Canadian Fringe Festival circuit, and appeared on the CBC radio comedy show "Madly Off in All Directions". On LiveJournal, Graham is musicmutt and Becca is, quite logically, chirosinger. Copyright © 2008, Fanfare Music. Images © 2005, 2007 by Dave Romm |
