WHAT'S HAPPENING???

We have a roster of incredible guests -- Bill & Gretchen Roper, Puzzlebox, Marty Fabish, Chris "Christo" Conway, and Peter S. Beagle -- along with The World's Largest Filk Concom, who will be serving up a hearty helping of music and fun on the first weekend in March... which is right around the corner!

Consonance 2006 is starting to take shape, and boy, are we excited! In addition to the special events and guests mentioned elsewhere, we'll have CONCERTS by Helga Olegaurde, Lynn Gold and Seanan McGuire, and a special children's/parents' concert by Puzzlebox. There'll be a DRUM CIRCLE on Friday, the always-entertaining INTERFILK AUCTION on Saturday, and the TWO-FERS on Sunday. THEME CIRCLES scheduled so far include "Sing the Blues" with Marty Fabish, "Ghost Stories" with Taunya Gren, and "Early Birds Sing Sweetly" with Seanan McGuire. WORKSHOPS will include "Filk & the Internet" with Eric Gerds, "Performance & the Performer's Tools" with Marty Fabish, and "Making Vaguely Song-Like Noises on the Theramin" with Christo.

Of course, there'll be lots of OPEN FILKING starting at 10AM on Friday and ending with the "Schoedinger's Con Filk" until 6AM on Monday. And as always, John & Mary Creasey will host the late-night SIN PIT with our very own Nicotine Diva, Leslie Fish.

'Roving Mars' at the San Jose Tech Museum of Innovation

On Friday, March 3rd, we are organizing a group expedition to the IMAX film "Roving Mars" at the Tech Museum of Innovation. We will meet in the hotel lobby at 1pm, to get to the 2pm showing in plenty of time. Tickets are $10.00 for the movie and $16.00 for the movie plus museum admission. CMQ Memorial Filksing

Sadly, long-time filker and singer-songwriter Cynthia McQuillin passed away on January 14th of this year. Her wish was that filk circles be held in her honor, so Consonance will hold a CMQ Memorial Filksing on Saturday, March 4 from 12:30 to 2:30. All who wish to participate or listen are invited. The circle will be hosted by Dr. James Robinson; come and perform your favorite Cindy song, or dedicate a non-Cindy song to her memory (vampires and werewolves are always appropriate themes!).
Please Note: Convention Membership is NOT required to attend and/or participate in this event.

YOU'RE COMING, RIGHT?

Well, you'll need a place to stay if you don't live nearby, so MAKE YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS NOW!! The hotel guarantees the special convention rates until February 16; just call the Crowne Plaza in Milpitas, CA at 1(408)321-9500 M-F between the hours of 9am PT and 4pm PT and mention that you're a member of Consonance. And even if it is after the 16th, the hotel may choose to honor the rate, but they are not required to do so.

AND OF COURSE...

we'll have the usual fabulous Con Suite organized by Lady Colleen Savitzky, and Kitty Crowe will staff the Info-Desk. Jo Kellner and Karl Maurer will control the hordes at Registration, and John & Mary Creasey will monitor the small-but-mighty Dealer's Room. There will be no official child care personnel, but a room wil be made available specifically for children for the duration of the con.
